About the Department

 

The Department of Building Technology is part of the AAU, Faculty of Technology. It is located at the Southern Campus. It conducts a three-year course leading to an advanced diploma in building technology and has an average annual intake of eighty students. The department runs also (evening) continuing education program, in the same filed of study. The average intake of this program is about 100 students and it takes 5 years for the completion of the course.

Facilities and Resources 

Library:

The Department shares with the other departments in the campus a library that can accommodate 650 users.  

Workshops:

The Department has workshop facilities that provide practical training in basic setting out, masonry, carpentry, plumbing and electrical works.  

Computer center: this recently provided facility gives instructional service to the Departments of Building Technology, Architecture and Urban Planning. It is also used by the staff of all departments. 

Support facilities: The testing facilities of the Materials Research and Testing Department are used intermittently for demonstration purposes to reinforce the acquisition of a deeper understanding of the properties of construction materials and soils. 

Sport facilities: The department shares different sport facilities in the compound with the other departments. The facilities include: a football field, two tennis courts, one out-dead multi-purpose field and one swimming pool. Indoor games like table-tennis and chase are also available.
